Climate Scientists Censored?

Henry Waxman's House Oversight and Reform Committee is looking into whether the White House is "inappropriately censoring impartial government scientists" on global warming. Now, c'mon. Is there any group of people less restrained, less blatant about pushing a political agenda in the name of science than climatologists? Here's some excerpts from a CBS report on this topic, interviewing NASA's chief whiner, James Hansen:
As a government scientist, James Hansen is taking a risk. He says there are things the White House doesn't want you to hear but he's going to say them anyway...
Asked if he believes the administration is censoring what he can say to the public, Hansen says: "Or they're censoring whether or not I can say it. I mean,I say what I believe if I'm allowed to say it...
Hansen has a theory that man has just 10 years to reduce greenhouse gases before global warming reaches what he calls a tipping point and becomes unstoppable. He says the White House is blocking that message.
Now does it sound like he's scared? No, he's obviously full of shit, as he obviously feels completely unrestrained in saying anything he wants, including his crackpot theory about a tipping point. Maybe what's happening is that the Bush administration, like every other government that has ever existed, doesn't like to be criticized by government employees making political statements disguised as scientific pronouncements.

Meanwhile, global warming gets the full media saturation treatment, and those who question the CW are tarred and feathered and run out of town. We may well need to be concerned about human-induced climate change, but one thing we don't have to worry about is that the message is not getting out.

Remember Hansen "works" for an agency that gets billions of dollars to explore space, but they can't even seem to get the shuttle (which is 1970's technology, by the way) into the air on a regular basis. So I guess he'll get a paycheck bitching about how bad he has it and the intimidation by the jackbooted gestapo agents who work for Bush, silencing any dissent on global warming, or something. You are right about the uncrtitcal acceptance of the media, the left, the enviromental lobby, the car haters, Al Gore and the rest of Those Who Know Better and Are Smarter Than You that global warming is real and that it is a result of human activity. Lately, more and more evidence shows that they may be wrong on both counts. Check out the Max Planck Institute's work on the sun's activity as of late. Why was the "earthshaking" global warming report edited in secret? I could go on and on. But it is not about science, it is about controlling our lives. These people know that they are full of shit, so they are pulling out all the stops before any real science gets looked at. it is like a religion with these people, the more evidence to the contrary that they are wrong and have been wrong for years, the more orthodox they get. Any heretics must be rooted out and destroyed. This 10 year tipping point bullshit is simply an attempt to get legislation in place to change our lives for the worse, wreck the economy, tax our cars, gasoline (even more) and lifetsyle in order to feel good about themselves and be righteous while doing absolutely nothing to improve anything for anybody in any way, shape or form except to grant gov't even greater control over our lives (which I might add is the essence of modern liberalism/leftism. See the NYC transfat ban for a great example)When gas is $10 a gallon and our economy is destroyed I'm sure Hansen and Al Gore will still take trips all over the world to "conferences" to get together with other righteous types and all agree how bad the rest of us are (on our money of course).
Of course America gets all the blame, never mind that the Europeans( somebody call John Kerry) can't even meet their own established emission standards and that China and India are the worst offenders of this greenhouse gas emission discharge. They must be laughing their asses off.
Sorry about the rant, but these people are complete assholes who have left science so far behind, they wouldn't know it if it bit them in the ass. Has anybody else noticed the saturation coverage this global warming nonsense has gotten in the last week or so? Does anybody think it is a coincidence?

I appreciate the rant. I agree with much of what you say, but I do think it's likely our modern economy is causing global warming. But the silly conservationist policies being proposed are just not going to cut it. We need some major breakthroughs in technology to solve it - something that will work and that will be worthwhile doing even if it all ends up being a big lie. Dr. Cochran tells us his dangerous idea for what we need to do.
